Reliant Medical Group, a major tenant at the Mercantile Center office tower in downtown Worcester, has renewed a lease for 55,000 square feet of space, the building’s owner announced Tuesday.

Reliant, which has medical offices across Central Massachusetts, will stay at 100 Front St. for another 10 years. Reliant confirmed the renewal but didn’t offer more details.

The announcement from Franklin Realty Advisors, the building’s owner, included remarks by Chip Norton, the firm’s president and owner, and Worcester City Manager Edward Augustus, both glad to see a major regional name in health care stay in the city. Franklin Realty Advisors said Reliant’s lease renewal is one of the largest such deals in downtown Worcester in recent years and signifies the strength of the neighborhood’s office market.

Mercantile Center, which is 98% occupied, also includes offices for UMass Memorial Health Care, Nationwide Insurance, Webster Five Cents Savings Bank, the employment agency Barton & Associates and the realty group Kelleher & Sadowsky.
