From the top: Central Mass. Jazz Fest strikes up with first concert in five-day series

WORCESTER – The Central Mass. Jazz Fest opened Tuesday with a concert in the lobby of the Mercantile Center on Front Street. The lunchtime crowd was treated to the sounds of WICN radio host Pamela Hines and Bill Fanning.

The Jazz Fest will be a five-day offering this year, with live events at different venues, featuring local, national and international renowned musicians through Sept. 24. Next up will be the Russo Brothers Quintet, performing from noon to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Worcester Beer Garden, 64 Franklin St.
