Venture X, a 15,000-square-foot co-working space in Worcester’s Mercantile Center, has officially opened its doors.

The leasing of space in Mercantile Center by Venture X, which is headquartered in Florida, was first announced in March. The company signed an 11-year lease for the Worcester location and is run by Nicole Wolanski, president of Venture X Worcester. Venture X operates another separately run location at the Apex Center in Marlborough.

Co-working facilities offer alternative spaces for small businesses and individuals looking for a more flexible arrangement than leasing traditional office space.

Located on the fourth floor, the Venture X Worcester space allows for 24/7 access to clients and includes a members’ cafe and lounge, according to a press release issued by Franklin Realty Advisors, the Wellesley-based company that manages Mercantile Center, on Thursday.

“In welcoming Venture X, we also welcome an array of small businesses, sole proprietors, freelancers, satellite offices, and other professionals who will benefit from the flexible workspaces,” Chip Norton, president and owner of FRA, said in the press release

In addition to the location operated by Venture X, International Workplace Group, a company based in Luxembourg, is planning on opening four co-working spaces of its own in Central Massachusetts.
